PANELIST: JET PROGRAM

The JET Program – Live, Work, and Discover Japan!

The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program offers young professionals the opportunity to live and work in cities, towns, and villages throughout Japan. Being a JET is an amazing chance to represent the United States as cultural ambassadors to Japan, while also experiencing Japan and Japanese culture firsthand through daily life. With more than 55 countries around the world currently participating in JET, this program offers a unique cultural exchange opportunity to meet people from all around the world; all living and working in Japan. Most participants serve as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and work in public and private schools throughout Japan; some work as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) as interpreters/translators.

Founded in 1987, JET has sent more than 70,000 participants from around over 75 countries (including more than 35,800 Americans) to work in schools, boards of education, and government offices throughout Japan. The JET Program continues to seek out participants who are adaptable, outgoing, and who have a deep interest in Japan. Only the best candidates are chosen to represent America.
