ABOUT US

Hello! We’d like to welcome everyone to ZotCon University (ZCU)! We’re pretty sure you’ve noticed slight changes in our naming and set up, so to answer your question… Yes. We have rebranded.

Why, you ask? Well, we wanted to expand the reach of ZotCon. At its core, ZotCon was created by a group of college students in order to bring an actual anime convention to their university. Now that we’ve dipped our toes in the water, we want to make a bigger splash! So we’ve decided to move on to bigger things and aim for a festival that will be made for the community by the community. Yes, we will still have our ZotCon at UCI club, but now, we can incorporate more individuals into our community to help with planning amazing events for everyone. Do note, we will still have a heavy emphasis on having a good amount of our members/talent be UCI students, we just wanted a way to allow those who never had the opportunity to create their own convention to do so. This move also helps us achieve things that were limited by just being a university club.

So why ZotCon University? Well, we wanted to keep our ties to our founding. ZotCon was created by college students for college students, so the board and attendees would always be college students in spirit. Everyone is a student of ZotCon University! This also means some of our terms will change, such as Board Members now being Student Council members.

Well, hopefully that clears up some of the questions you may have about what you’ve been seeing across all our social media. We hope you still continue to support us in our efforts as we continue to grow to take on bigger and bigger tasks!

Thanks again for all your support and we hope to see you at future events!

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about why we have done this or if you would like information, email us at studentcouncil@zotcon.org.
