RULES, REGULATIONS, AND POLICIES

ZotCon University Event Code of Conduct

By attending any ZotCon University hosted “event,” you agree to comply with ZotCon University’s Code of Conduct. Any violation of our Code of Conduct may result in removal from our event or even potential banning from any future ZotCon University events.

ZotCon University reserves the right to modify and/or update our Code of Conduct at any time without prior notice to the public.

Code of Conduct:

In order to create a safe space for everyone in our community, we require that you follow our Code of Conduct so that everyone can enjoy ZotCon University hosted events together!

ZotCon University’s goal is to create a safe space for everyone in our community, so please treat others with kindness and be sure to help one another! Harassment of any type or form will not be tolerated and can result in your removal from our events. Be sure to report any harassment you face or see so we can continue to make our community a safe place for everyone!

At Our Events:

  • All attendees must abide by all UCI Policies on Student Conduct, which can be found here: https://aisc.uci.edu/policies/
  • Wristbands must be worn at all times to gain entry into any of our rooms.
  • A UCI Student ID must be shown when picking up your Student ticket, or you will be charged the full entry fee.

By attending ZotCon University events, attendees agree to abide by our guidelines. Failure to do so may result in removal from our event or even a possible lifetime ban. We want to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience at our events, so please make sure to follow all of our rules and regulations!

Prohibited Activities

The following activities are prohibited at any ZotCon University events:

  • There is a zero tolerance policy for any form of harassing, assaulting, threatening, or inappropriate behavior towards another person. Offenders will be removed from the event and local authorities will be contacted.
  • There will be zero tolerance for any form of sexual harassment. This includes, but is not limited to, unsolicited physical contact or photography. Offenders will be removed from the site and reported to local authorities.
  • Cosplay does not equal consent. Do not touch or photograph cosplayers unless granted explicit permissions to do so. Remember, cosplayers are attendees enjoying the event too!
  • Lewd or offensive behavior, including profanity and obscene language and conduct, is prohibited.
  • Lewd or offensive material displayed on clothing, cosplay, or other merchandise/displays is prohibited. 
  • No alcohol or drugs are allowed. Smoking and vaping are prohibited on UCI campus.
  • Any activity or items prohibited by law and/or prohibited by UCI will also be prohibited at ZotCon University events.
  • Pets are not allowed in the venue unless they are service animals.
  • Conducting commercial or business transactions can only be done with prior consent by ZotCon. This includes, but is not limited to, distribution of advertisements/flyers or promotional products.
  • Overcrowding of halls and walkways. Failure to comply with commands to move elsewhere may result in removal from our events.

Prohibited Items

ZotCon University event attendees are not allowed to bring the following items to any ZotCon University events:

  • Weapons or Props Resembling Weapons (See our Prop Weapon Policy for more information)
  • Guns of any kind (i.e. Real Guns, Airsoft Guns, Water Guns, Nerf Guns, etc.)
  • Explosives
  • Power Tools
  • Metal or Wooden Baseball Bats
  • Any illegal substances
  • Golf Clubs
  • Drugs
  • Alcohol
  • Coolers
  • Stickers and Flyers (unless you are a vendor or bought stickers from our vendors)
  • Lighters
  • Flammable liquids
  • Coolers
  • Non-Service Animals
  • Wagons or Carts
  • Oversized bags (Must be Airplane Carry-on permitted or smaller)
  • Laser Pointing devices
  • Noise making devices
  • Large posters of any kind

Prop Weapon Policy

Props resembling real weapons of any kind are not permitted at ZotCon University events. This is both a ZotCon University policy as well as UCI policy. Anyone bringing a prop resembling a weapon may be removed from our event or have their prop confiscated. We do allow some fictional weapons.

If you want to bring a prop, your prop must follow these rules:

  • No metal props
  • Props must be able to be held by a single individual
  • Props must not require any external support
  • Props cannot be large enough to obstruct walkways or cause inconvenience for other attendees
  • Props cannot weigh more than 10 lbs. (Yes, we will weigh it if we believe it may exceed it)
  • Everyday items, such as umbrellas or walking canes are permitted and do not need a Prop Weapon Clearance pass. However, we will examine them if we feel the need to do so.

Cosplay Guidelines

Since we are an organization hosting Japanese themed events, we understand that many members of our community would love to cosplay at our events. Although we allow you to do so, we ask that you follow our Cosplay Guidelines so that we can continue to keep both you and our attendees safe!

  • All cosplays must abide by UCI Campus policies.
  • Cosplays should not be over revealing! We have minors attending people, keep your private parts hidden away!
  • Footwear is required at all times! 
  • Any form of cosplay must allow for both you and other attendees to walk comfortable next to each other without the need for “squeezing” through. Cosplays should not block any walkways whatsoever
  • No cosplay can require external support, i.e wheels or extension poles, unless you have a disability which requires you to have one.
  • All props must be handheld and not require any external support
  • No cosplay can be a realistic depiction of US Law Enforcement, active US Military, First Responders, Emergency Medical Personnel, or any Government Officials. We have the right to examine any and all cosplay and remove those who we deem to be infringing this rule.
  • All weapon props are required to have a Prop Weapon Clearance. See our Prop Weapon Policy section for more details.
